Tuesday Talk: Did you get special treatment...

I absolutely needed extra support, both physically and emotionally. From medical people, I didn't really feel like I.was getting any extra support, except that nurse who always had my pain pills in her pocket when she came to check my vitals every four hrs. She was my favorite person in that hospital! There was one nurse in the NICU who put in extra time helping me breastfeed but that was baby-related, not cs-related. At home my DH was sooo amazing with taking care of both me and the baby. I think he would have done it anyway, but was extra vigilant with my physical needs. My mom was helpful for the days I was in the hospital, then over the phone once she left when we were discharged. I do wish I would have had more emotional support, both at the hospital and at my follow up appts. They just kept saying things like a healthy baby is all that matters but I was really worried about my own well-being but felt selfish for feeling that way. I knew my baby was fine, but I didn't think I was fine and I felt that I should be held equally as important. I felt broken in so many ways. Looking back, my mws should have addressed it, especially since I planned a natural unmedicated birth and ended w an emergency section.

Hi ladies, just found your board so I thought I would stop by. I don't think I got "special" treatment for having a csection, I think I had more special treatment because I had severe preeclampsia and I was pretty out of it for quite a while after delivery. Everyone was great at my hospital though and took excellent care of me and my baby girl :)
