I'm a 34 year old mom of 3. I have an Iud so no worries on being pregnant. My breasts are so swollen, that today I thought I would topple over. They hurt so much. I've done so much research and can't find anything that can give me answers. I normally hurt and swell a week before my period and this is 2-3 weeks before I start. They NEVER hurt or swell this badly. I'm a dd cup and I can't fit into my bras. My breasts are killing me. Please help!!!
Hi, and welcome to the iVillage Sexual Health forum.
I'm sorry to hear you're having such a difficult time with breast pain and swelling. I would suggest calling a healthcare professional right away to get to the root of it. Many health insurance plans have a nurse line you can call with questions. If that option isn't available to you, another possibility is to talk to a nurse at your regular doctor's office or at a women's health clinic such as Planned Parenthood. When you contact them, they'll probably have several questions, including:
• How long have you been experiencing breast pain and swelling?
• Is the pain and swelling relatively equal in both breasts, or is it worse in one?
• Are you running a fever, or is either breast noticeably warm to the touch?
• Have you started, stopped or changed any medication or supplements recently?
• Do you have any other symptoms, physical or emotional? (Pain elsewhere, weepiness, etc.)
• Is your IUD hormonal or copper? If hormonal, how recently was it inserted or checked?
I hope you can find out what is causing your pain, and get relief soon. Best of luck to you.
