The reason for this is that breast fed babies have lower rates of asthma at a younger age than non-breast fed babies. Remeber that colostrom is loaded with antibodies which the mom gives to her newborn to help their immune system defend it'self. It takes time for this little one to learn what to react to and what not to react to, so breast milk gives it time to learn this. This is one of the reasons there is such a push for all mothers to breast feed their babies.
