Anybody know why?

We got Jake from a CT shelter 8 years ago and every so often I send a shipment of good dry dog food as a small thank you for saving this critter from an all-kill shelter down south.
I would imagine that canned food stays fresher, longer.
I would say freshness and less change of bugs would be prime reasons they would ask for canned. It could also be due to dogs with medical issues...sometimes older dogs, dogs with dental issues, etc. can't handle kibble as well but all dogs can eat canned. Canned is also pricier, so if they want to make sure to have canned food on hand, it probably helps more to receive that as donations. Finally, there's a slim chance it could be to reduce the possibility of tampering, since it could be possible for someone to open certain types of bagged kibble and reseal them.
Figured it could be something like that.
