For the 5 of us, nothing less than a 6 qt will do, but I got a triple crock for Christmas. It is a 4 qt, surrounded by 1.5 qt. I've only used it once, for salsa chicken, with beans & rice, which worked great. We are having a family BBQ this weekend & I'd like to be able to use it for some sides or something. We will have 7 to 9 adults & two teenagers to feed...any suggestions?
Pasta dishes are always good, you could cook it the night before and then put in the crock to keep warm. Maybe sweet and sour meatballs, or some time of meatballs with a sauce. I'll try to think of some more and get back to you...
That sounds great Susanne! I love to do pork loin in the crock pot. It always comes out so tender and you can do so many things with it. When I'm feeling lazy, I just dump a bottle of BBQ sauce in with it and we shred it for BBQ pork sandwiches.
Same for us Jaielyn. We have an enormous oval crock pot. I assume it's probably 6 or 7 quarts.
Did you have a particular type of food in mind for the BBQ? You could do pulled BBQ pork in the big one with sides (bean and ???) in the others. Or how about build-your-own soft tacos or carnitas with chicken or pork, black beans and refried beans?
We are going to slow cook a pork butt on the grill for BBQ sandwiches, along with our jalapeƱo chicken appetizers. Levi is doing his grilled tomatoes, I think. Maybe creamed corn or beans in the 4qt & dip or something in one? BBQ sauce in the other?? Still thinking. One bro is bringing deviled eggs, the other blubbery cheesecake & strawberry spinach salad -- yum!!!
Sound very good! I've been craving deviled eggs since seeing an article in Rachel Ray's magazine a few weeks ago about a zillion ways you can make deviled eggs. I keep telling myself to wait until after Easter to make them when I have Easter Eggs coming out of my ears!

I did the same Susanne .. went out and bought a smaller crockpot which is perfect for just dh and me.
Hope your dinner was delicious.
I remember the days when I would fill a large crockpot with casseroles etc. and as a family we would finish off the lot in one meal!
