Do you like bbq? Do you make your own sauce or buy it?

I made pulled bbq pork last for dinner yesterday and had bunch of people over and it turned out great. I've recently discovered Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce and wow does it make the difference in just a good sandwich and a great sandwich.

It depends on the BBQ... We lived in Texas long enough to prefer dry rubs to sauces, and I especially do not like sweet, tomatoe-y sauces.

I love BBQ, buy bottled sauces mostly.

SBR does come in different flavors but I always use the original. I don't care for really spicy foods and bbq sauce is about as bold as I'm willing to go.

Pork butt makes the best pulled pork and I simmer mine in the crock pot all day long. We don't have the best grocery around here so they aren't always available and some times I have to settle for boneless ribs.

Is it sacrilege to make pulled pork with whatever pork cut you have on hand? I've thrown boneless chops in the crockpot before with sauce from a pulled pork recipe and I thought it turned out fairly well. I actually have a jar of pulled pork sauce in the pantry to test.

We don't usually BBQ outside (though I love the taste) but I do make BBQ wings or drumsticks in the oven. I usually use a bottle of garlic BBQ sauce (Kraft, I think) but I've used recipes before, just simple ones with ketchup and brown sugar as the main ingredients.

We've made slow-cooked ribs in our oven a couple times recently and I love the dry rub in that recipe. Yum yum!

If I make ribs in the crockpot, I do honey garlic or one of the tomatoe-y sauces. I like sweet but not too sweet!

I make bbq chicken and ribs in the oven.

lol I do often make it with whatever I have on hand but if I am having company or planning an "event" I always use pork butt because it makes more.

You'll have to let us know what kind of sauce you have and if it is any good.

I typically get the huge butts because when I make bbq it's usually for an occasion of some type where I know a lot of people are coming.

What I need is a good cole slaw recipe to go along with my pulled pork. So far my attempts at cole slaw have not been good. lol
