Question about IEP for meeting tomorrow

Mt dd is in HS & for the 1st time she has an IEP. long story short she had a 504 & one teacher wouldn't follow it so I asked for an IEP. IEP came w a resourse class where they would do math w/her. ey have done math once since jan. My dd wants out of this IEP & back to her 504. Do we have the right to say we want this gone & can they make us keep it?

The meeting went awful, the special ed director scared the crap out of my daughter telling her that he had to stay in aclab & keep her IEP or she wouldn't be successful. Her guidance couselor told her she would not get into a 4 yr. college because she would do lousy on her SAT's because she isn't good in math. They also said if she got out of the IEP & aclab she would have to sit in the guidance office 3 days a week for that 90 minute block because they had no where to put her. There was not one of her teachers at the meeting & the P just left in the middle. My dd has testing anxiety & I think you know what that GC did to her yesterday. She missed honor roll my 1/100 of a point she does fine w/a 504 & I was told that she probably wouldn't be able to get a 504 if we opted out of her IEP. We only asked for an IEP because the teachers wouldn't follow her 504 & the P wouldn't do anything, now they are trying to blackmail us into keeping the IEP. My dd is so confused & upset she doesn't know if she even should go to college after yesterdays meeting. She says they think she is stupid & maybe she can't do the work. She has a B right now in honors english, her french teacher recommended her for honors french. She not stupid she just has a very hard time w/math.
Not sure if they were out of compliance w/none of her teachers being at the meeting. not sure if its ok that they said she would have to sit in the guidance office for 90 minutes 3 days a week. I'm just pretty confused myself this morning & I want some answers about what our rights are & if they got stompted on yesterday. I'm beginning to think they did.

And you're not alone, My own 7th grader attended one meeting when she started middle school last year, which by the way is encouraged as it gets the kids to learn how to advocate for themselves, etc too.... It was a nightmare! She heard things there she had NEVER heard before, like poor learner and the teachers dropped the disabled and handicap crap like a dripping faucet too, There was no advocay for her in that room that day and there was nobody except DH and I that were empowering her either. I was so upset afterwards too, I jotted down my feelings in email to everybody that next day and received only one apology.
Good luck to you and your DD, She sounds like a smart girl and don't let what that school told you stop you from her going to college and succeeding.. Don't let an IEP stand in her way.
I have asked for another meeting & i also will be taking an advocate w/us from what is called Parent Support group here. I also contacted the state IEP people & 504 & they told me we would be well takin care of by this parent support group. Any problems just call them. They also recommeneded that I send an email asking for her progress to be sent to me each week from aclab & an explanation of what they did that week.
