Apparently the whole country had bizarrely warm weather this winter (if you can even call what we experienced winter).

I'm no scientist and I'll be the first to admit I don't totally understand the whole global warming thing on a technical level. I just know we've been having some crazy weather the last few years! This winter was more like fall... but then, 4 years ago, we got over 8 inches of snow -- the first time it snowed down here in something like 20 years.
Now this year, the blackberries are already ripe -- and not just a few here and there. The bushes are literally drooping with all the ripe berries; we can't pick them fast enough! They usually don't ripen like this until the latter part of May. I think I'd better get to work on my garden soon! LOL
