Ok, I'm ashamed to admit I've never eaten tuna , except canned. We eat tuna salad, tuna melts, tuna burgers, tuna casserole & glop (a quick tuna casserole concoction using kraft mac & cheese for the base.). When Caleb was little, he'd much rather have tuna than pb&j!
We use a lot of canned tuna for sandwiches. DH likes when I add a can to leftover macaroni salad and the kids love tuna noodle (no cream of soup for me though, haha!).
I like fresh tuna when it is grilled, but I will only eat it if it is well done.
I ate it a lot as a kid, used to make tuna casserole sometimes, DH likes it. I would make my macaroni salad with it, and just made it that way Saturday for DH. But, I couldn't stomach it. I used to like tuna sammies sometimes, tuna, miracle whip and chopped dill pickle. (I prefer it wtih chopped ham or chicken instead now.) But I just can't make myself eat it anymore. It's good for me, but blah.
My mom used to make tuna gravy...white sauce with a can of tuna mixed in and served it over waffles. Yup....waffles. It's disturbingly good, my nephew misses it and I have been meaning to make it for him for a couple years now, his wife refuses to do it...lol. Some day!!
DH likes ahe (no clue how to spell that) tuna raw with wasabi and shoyu. I did try it once, not for me...lol. We both like it grilled, but rarely eat it since it's pretty spendy.
That is bizarre, I'm wondering if my grandmother made it also. I could ask her I guess, but her memory isn't what it used to be. But being almost 97, she is entitled..lol. Let's see, in 1952 my mom would have been 15, a year before she married my dad. Tell me about your Radio piece, it's 7:25 now, so I missed it.
Well I love tuna anyway.. I will eat tuna in a can for breakfast on toast.. Tuna in this house is simple and quick to fix.. A dieter delight..
I also remember the tuna casseroles but in our house food was very small in portions so if one wasn't at the time of supper it was gone and then we had to wait for breakfast ...
Love tuna! Am on a tuna kick right now, LOL Add in some pickles, celery & light mayo .. yum! Have it on crackers often as well as a tuna sandwich We also make it adding mac noodles to it too :)

Misty, I used your idea for the piece on Radio Memphis today, because it just sounded so odd that I dug up this old ad from the 1952 Pittsburg Press

Hit the Radio Memphis link in my siggy to listen, it airs at 5:40 my time CDT) so I guess that is about 3:40 your time.
