Moved in with boyfriend, gained 30 pounds!

In the course of only 9 months since moving in with my boyfriend, I have gained 30 pounds! That is on top of the 20 I already needed to lose.  In the last decade, I have only fluctuated maybe 10 pounds. This is astounding to me. I don't think I eat more than I was single, in fact I no longer pig out and have binges, but I must be eating more overall. I pretty much eat on my own for breakfast and lunch, but often cook for the both of us for dinner. Perhaps I am eating more portions. I know I am exercising less. Has this happened to anyone before? I am so distraught and desperately need to get the pounds off.

I've always heard about this happening. Are you spending more time at the dinner table because you have someone to talk to and spend time with? Are you and your boyfriend snuggling up with snacks and treats each night? Maybe you need to reevaluate what you are cooking for dinner so if you do spend more time eating, it's healthier and lower calorie food.

I know i eat worse with dh than on my own. Just generally worse choices and eat out more which is horrible for weight gain. also if he dishes out the food his concept of even a requested small portion is quite different than mine but if it is in front of me i will eat it.

Relationship benchmarks and milestones are a big time for women to gain weight.  Chances are you're just eating bigger portions than he is.

Have you thought about actually measuring your food? If you do you might be surprised to see what a serving is compared to what he's consuming.  That may be enough to start you slimming down.  Also, see if he wants to go to the gym together.

The same thing happened to me. It seems that when I was single I ate what and when I wanted to, but with DH I seem to eat when he eats, and I'm not necessarily hungry then. It's a bad habit and hard to break.
