The Rescue volunteers are busy and most have day jobs.  I inquired last evening, and Sue responded at bedtime that the workup on Roly was supposed to have been conducted yesterday and no results had been provided yet.

The frustration, being a foster parent, is that I am not the client.  So the clinic notifies the Rescue contact, and she in turn notifies me.  When I go to pick Roly up, however, I am able to talk to the vet or the vet tech about treatment, diet, etc.

For those of you on Fecebook, Roly is the banner picture for the city's animal services page right now.

Roly has been diagnosed with diabetes.  He will remain at the clinic for a few more days for monitoring.

I don't know if I am up to administering insulin injections; he may need to go to another foster home.

I love him dearly, but I'm glad I didn't adopt him.  I can't afford his health care :smileysad:

Oh Gaye I'm so sorry....and I'm so sorry for little Roly.  But I also believe that there is a home for every deserving dog.  Many adopters specifically seek special-needs animals.....you just have to find the right people.

I can definitely understand....I was just telling someone at the dog park yesterday about my beloved ^Valentine^....when we first moved to VA she was in chronic kidney failure and we spent thousands to try and help her....but we lost her in just a few months.

I will probably know on Tuesday whether I will be trained to give injections or if Roly will be moved to another foster home.

(()) I know this is difficult for you. Sorry that Roly does have diabetes and you suspected correctly and helped him as quickly as you could.
