Is this something only a dad would do?

Hi gals! It's been awhile, my dh just sent me this link and I knew I had to share it with you all 
So this little boy's favorite toy (lovey is more like it) is his wooden Stanley train from the Thomas the Tank collection. His dad thought it would be cool to send Stanley up with a weather balloon to see how high up in the atmosphere it could go. While this is a very cool science experiment that my boys would love, I can't imagine using their favorite toy to do it! Is this something you would do or only a dad would take the risk?

Maybe it's just because Matthew was so attached to his Thomas trains, but I can't imagine doing this, even as cool as it is!

That video is just so darn cute! I love how the dad did the animation on Stanley's face. I think it's a really cool project, but yeah, I would have been too afraid to use my son's absolute fave toy.
