Thank you for the kind words. You cannot understand how deflated and what an emotional struggle this was for us in the beginning. DH's salary went from $90K a year to $25K. I never missed a beat working, but my salary was only $28K at the time and we just could not pay the bills. In 73 weeks, all we will owe for in our house. So I am going to double or triple the payments to get it paid off ASAP. Exciting.....YES!
My hubby & I filled Chapter 13 Bankruptcy after her lost two jobs is a row and we had to close a side business I had run for year with our son. So you can say we suffered a triple whammy. Our plan payout was for 5 yrs. or 60 mos. We will make our final payment in February 2014. So therefore....73 weeks to go or a little less than 1 & 1/2 years.
It's been rough...the budget is tight...but doable! I can SEE the light at the end of the tunnel.
The good thing about chapter 13 is we got to keep two vehicles, the tractor and we continued paying our mortgage outside of the Bankruptcy plan. The unsecured creditors will get a percentage of the total debt. In our case, somewhere around 70% by the time we are finished. The car, truck and tractor were paid back at 100% plus the original interet rate.
