Weekend Plans?

What's happening this weekend?

I have to work overtime tonight.   But it's a middle school game instead of high school so it is right after school.   I get off at 4:00 and have to be back at 5:00.   We'll be done by about 7:30.   When I get off I'll get DS and go home to sit and stare at a wall.   He may talk me into playing video games with him.   That's pretty mindless.   DD is going to a Youth Group scavenger hunt.   She'll be home late.

Saturday DD and I have a winterize the softball field thing to go to.   It's from 9:00-10:30.   Then from 10:30-12:00 there is a parent/daughter softball game.    And then from 1:30-3:30 she has softball practice for her other team.

The kids' dad is taking them to a movie tomorrow evening.   During that time I may actually get to see Jeff.   Yay!

Sunday is cleaning, grocery, finishing an Indian project with DS, and more softball practice.

I got a neck ache just looking at those things!  When I hear mum coresage what comes to my mind is more along this line - something you wore to a college football game back in the 50's & 60's!

Apparently like a corsage necklace.   Totally foreign to me too.

I found this on a web site:
Since we moved here to Texas we have noticed some strange traditions around here. At my daughters High School the kids either purchase or make each other Mums for Homecoming. You may ask yourself as we did what in the heck is a mum? Well I am here to tell you..... It started way back years ago to give the girl you go to homecoming with a mum...a flower to wear to the game or dance to wear on her dress or shirt. Well the mum has grown to gigantic proportions!!

The mum now consists of large silk mums (that you can't even see) attached to a card board base where there is also sometimes added small stuffed animals like bears or your school mascot, then lots and lots of ribbons and sparkly trims, charms of all kinds, cow bells, whistles, ribbons with yours and your dates names on them embossed with glitter...even some of these mums have battery powered lights on them!! You may be also be asking yourself....do they wear these to the dance over their dresses? No...they don't wear them to the dance they only wear them to school and to the big game. Emily made hers this year and did a really amazing job. It was huge, sparkly and fluffy...all the things she loves.

Let me tell you they are not cheap either!! Last year my daughters date paid almost $200.00 for hers!! I personally think it is the craziest tradition I haveever seen but all the kids sure love making them and wearing them to school....... Although I must say that this year my daughter came home with a neck and headache because hers weighed so much!

No, Gaye... apparently I haven't. My two nieces are near Houston but I know, without a doubt, they would never do what you described this little brat-face did. And if, for some reason, they did... I know their mother would knock them silly if she ever found out.

Thx for posting the pic, Tracy... I'm glad that didn't go on at my girl's school either.... I just don't understand the significance... is there one?

This is just a crazy story, Gaye.   That girl is ridiculous.   I couldn't visualize what this mum looked like so I Googled Texas homecoming mum.   Wow.   I am glad we have nothing like this here.

Being 15 1/2 is a constant learning process.  You haven't met many Texas b**ches, have you?

None of us had the budget to buy the $100+, commercially-made mum with all the bells and whistles on it.

It wasn't good enough so she threw it on the ground and walked away?  Real nice.

OK.  Well it appears that Ian wasn't an a**hole, but Amanda thinks he is.  Apparently the mum we all worked on for a week wasn't good enough.  She reportedly threw it on the ground and walked away.

Kids are so nice!

Hope you heard good news Daisy and all enjoy breakfast today !

You have to leave water in the pool so it desn't blow away but more imprtantly so that the liner doesn't freeze and crack because there is no water  on it ! You don't want to have to buy a new liner...

Last night John and I had Chase for a little while - that was fun ! He rolls to get where he is going and we had him stand for a few seconds- he laughs alot and is a good baby =)..

Today My sister Kay and I had planned a long time ago to go to the Casino- so we are heading there soon.

Then the last race night for the season is tonight ... =(

Tomorrow just hanging out and cleaning .. Nothing really planned.

Enjoy your week-end ladies !
