My granddaughter fell in love with a mutt puppy at a PetSmart adoption event, and my daughter adopted him. He's a dachshund mix of some kind, about 11 weeks old.
He went to the vet today. He has a URI and came home with antibiotics. He weighs a whopping 6 pounds.

Welcome Peanut.
My Rudi was 3 pounds at less than 8 weeks when I adopted her. Supposedly she was mini and parent dogs were there and about 10 to 12 pounds but my little girl kept on growing into a standard size at just under 20#. She carries the weight well, isn't fat so either she takes after one of her grandparents or the private home misrepresented that was the parent dogs. But I love my Rudi and 20# fits well actually as she is curled up next to me now.
I hope your granddaughter loves her doxie mix. I was told to walk her using a halter since the breed are prone to spine issues. And to limit the jumping and stairs use too.
hugs, Josie
Peanut and Bella, the resident Golden, are best buddies already.
Oh, what a cutie! It's great to see him & his new sister getting along so well too. What a lucky little granddaughter you have. I fall in love w/every puppy at adoption events, & nobody ever lets me take them all home.
Now that he is on antibiotcs and feels better, Peanut is becoming a spunky little thing. Reportedly very smart, he is doing well with housebreaking and goes to the door and asks! DD thinks he might be part Jack Russell Terrier. I told her adolescence will be a killer.
He certainly is a cutie....what a face!! And if he is part JRT yes....the adolescence is going to be a "killer"....LOL....
He is adorable and I am happy to see how close he and Bella have become already!
