Super massive public tantrums...

How do you deal with those huge tantrums when they happen in public? The ones in the middle of the grocery store when everyone is looking at you?

I try to distract them with singing or silliness when I see the first signs of a tantrum coming on. When it actually hits I will take them outside the store if I have to to settle down. But they sure can be embarrassing.
