OMG Dawn!

Gripe away all you want

That is by far the most gripe-worthy event I have heard in ages!

The drive home alone with all the tired and cranky kids would have been enough to gripe about - without the GPS detour and the whole drunken husband in jail bit

Yikes!

it isn't like I have a hard afternoon, we are going to the movies and then out to dinner lol

Dinner and a movie sounds grand!

I hope Freya had a fantastic birthday!!!

So far, Caden has not had homework/projects over breaks for the most part

There is something over the summer they request you do (town reading program and online math facts), but they can't really force anyone to do it

I heard once you get to middle and high school there is a mandatory packet you have to do over the summer

I am not sure what the consequence for not doing it is, but I believe there is one
***************************
they don't have mandatory anything here over breaks?
usually over breaks they don't assign anything?
they may have something due mid week & a long weekend prior (like Gage has a project due on Thurs & this past weekend was fall break. However, they got the assignment 2 wks ago so it was their choice to do it over the break or not?
(book report which they had to read the book, write the report, fill out a fact sheet & do a diaroma (sp?) )
Gage has his done for the most part...he needs some grey or brown playdough to make a cave but that is it? (which he told me about last night)
they have never had anything over the Christmas break?
they have "suggested" reading & math but nnothing that is mandatory?
plus, they dont' know who their teachers are until the day before school usually (this year was an exception for S as they split the grades up...usually they all go on one day)?
& i would think the teachers were busy enough the beginning of the year & not wanting to grade reports etc?
