Grayson Joshua was born 9/29/12 at 5:03am. He weighed 7 pounds 7.2 ounces and was 21.5 inches long. Sounds like a normal size, but he's so skinny. The newborn diapers are big on him and 0-3 month clothes are huge! My favorite part is he looks just like his daddy.
I checked in the hospital at 6am on Friday 9/28. Epidural was started at 7:30 and doctors were able to successfully flip my breech baby at 8am with no complications or pain. Then, we started Pitocin to induce labor and turned off the epidural (but left it in so we could turn it on later without redoing it.) There were many interventions all day, but after 12 hours they still couldn't get labor to really start and I was exhausted and crying. My midwife turned off the Pitocin, told my husband to go get me dinner, kicked all the nurses out of the room, and told me to sleep for a bit. Within 1/2 hour of rest, contractions started on their own. We turned the pitocin and epidural back on a bit later so I could sleep longer without pain and keep labor going. When it was time to push finally, my midwife let me keep the lights dim and he was delivered very quietly without any problems. He came out in 3 contractions at 5:03 in the morning.
Grayson is perfectly healthy. He latches on very well and we're successfully breastfeeding. Our only problem is that he is so hungry, he wants to nurse all the time and I can't get any sleep, but I think that will improve once milk comes in. I'm recovering really well. I was able to get out of bed and walk around within a few hours of his birth, and feel better now than I did the whole pregnancy. I honestly don't feel really swollen or anything down there, it just feels like a bad period and ibuprofen is all I need. I've spent the past two days keeping the baby against my naked chest kangaroo-style and it's awesome. I am so happy and relieved that everything worked out. Grayson is perfect and it was worth everything!

My husband and his mini-me our first night. The baby looks just like him, except for his ears.
