Confrontation anxiety - in person and online/phone.

I hate confrontation. I panic like you wouldn't believe. (Well, you probably can, lol.) But it doesn't just mean in person (though, I find that incredibly hard). I have a hard time with it online and on the phone.

For example: my wedding dress is at a seamstress' house. I had to change the back on it from halter to criss-cross. I just can't do halter. Anyway, I dropped it off at the end of July. Ordered the extra fabric so she can do it and dropped that off beginning of August. Still don't have the dress. I called two weeks ago and she said that she didn't forget but hasn't done it it. Ok. So my mom texted me and told me to call her again. I said no because I'll cry if she's mean to me. (I will!) So she called her for me.

Am I the only one like this? I feel like a dope that at 34 I have these issues. And people think it's funny or that I'm lazy, etc. Grrr.

No, you are not a "Dope"...

It's not funny and you definitely are not Lazy.

This very real.

My ds has problems, he has severe "Anxiety", so does my dd and myself...:smileysad:...

I imagine there are way lots more others who are trying to cope/deal with this.

It is a struggle for sure.

That's the main reason I take prozac.  If something doesn't go as planned I cry.  I don't want to but I do.  I also hate the telephone.  I don't like to answer it.  I don't like to call people on it.  I don't like to talk on it.  Caller I.D. helps but i still have to deal with it.  Ugh!

We have Caller ID to.

It helps a lot especially ds but then you get a little caught up in checking out who called.

I'm totally an crier. The only time I don't, funny enough, is when I'm pregnant. I can speak my mind like no other.

I'm glad I'm not alone. Makes me feel better. :smileyhappy:

I totally get it. I hate talking on the phone, period, and when I have to confront someone in any forum, my heart races, even when it's not over a big issue. I really have to talk myself up, but if I practice beforehand, I can usually manage it. It hasn't always been that way, though - once I cried on the phone cancelling dinner reservations.

You're definitely not a dope.

Those weddings are getting close.  I went and had my nails done today and now I feel crippled.  I can't type nearly as fast.  I couldn't text on my phone.  These claws are going to need some adjustment time.  I also went and had my kinky frizz relaxed.  It looks awesome, now all I have to do is find a dress before Friday.

HOw are you holding up?
