dyk, the trainer didn't run this one, but I ran it with a few people from my old job and one of my old gyms
dyk, I finished in 1:09 and change - and I'm pleased with my time. I haven't been pleased with my time since March when I PR'd with 2:16:26
dyk, I went back on the course after finishing and ran/walked (mostly walked) back with one of the girls that used to work for me. Originally I was going to stay with her, but my legs felt good and she told me to go ahead - she finished her first 10k in 1:35 and change

-Tavern to Tavern
dyk, it was slow going, and I took extended walking breaks through the water stops, but I managed it pretty well
dyk, it was, dare I say it, easy. I really didn't feel like I went 6.2 miles. I felt good throughout the whole race, although the last mile was rough, but it always is
dyk, my time wasn't my best 10k time, may have been my worst, but I felt the best after this race!

dyk, I'm not sure how slow I walk when I walk during races, but I do know it's less than 4.0 (which is a 15 minute mile) - when I walk on the treadmill it's at a 4.0 so I know what that feels like
dyk, when I'm walking around normally, I walk faster than a 4.0 - my 'normal' walking pace is actually pretty fast

dyk, yes, the faster you are the earlier you start
dyk, for races that are pre-seeded, your bib will have your corral number/letter. I've only had this happen at the Disney and Rock 'n Roll races, but ibimagjne that any large race will have it.
dyk, for self-seeding, the corral signs will have the pace per mile and/or the estimated finish time
dyk, I would guess that a 15 minute mile would have you in one of the last corrals

dyk, $400 for a quarter doesn't seem SO bad
dyk, except that paying it all at once instead if over 3 months must hurt

dyk, every race I've ever done has had them by pace
dyk, some races assign corrals by bib number based on your estimated finish time
dyk, other races self seed - I've noticed that smaller/local races do the self seeding
