Chloe has arrived
Thu, 10-04-2012 - 5:42am

Chloe finally decided to make an appearance on October 3, weighing in at 6lb and measuring around 18 inches.  Gel failed to get things going on Tuesday, at midnight they made the call to just let me sleep and try again later, on Wednesday after my waters were broken and I was placed on the drip, she arrived in an hour and 45min.  No epidural and no tear so I am rather proud of myself.  BFing is getting easier, and she has slept for most of the time, we are home and slowly getting settled, DS is quite excited, but a bit frustrated that he cant play with her like a sister yet.

It was very straight forward once it got going.  They were waiting for her to engage before they would break my waters to save anything from moving down in front of her head, as her head was still high.  Once they decided to go ahead and break my waters anyway, they realised that there had been too much fluid around her which is why she wasnt engaging, there was no room to move down, even with 18 hours of fairly strong contractions caused by the gel, plus I was already 3cm when I got to the hospital for inducing, so everything had started to happen on its own, except for her being where she should have been.

Welcome, Chloe!  Sorry you had such a long labor, but she's here now.  Good for you doing it pain-med free.  (Although I did that for 2 of my 3 births and will never do it again, lol, I loved my epidural this time!)  Hopefully you're no longer itching and can relax and enjoy that baby girl.
