trying to sleep through the night caused mastitis - suggestions?

Hi Ladies - I am new to this board.  I have 5 month old twins, and although I sometimes nurse of my one sons, I am basically an exclusive pumper.  The boys recently started to sleep through the night so I tried to stretch out my pumping sessions to 5 or 6 hours (instead of 3 or 4).  I came down with a bad case of mastitis - high fever/headaches/pain - so now I am afraid to try to again stretch out the nightly sessions.  Anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?  Before the mastitis, I was pumping about 6 times a day.  Thanks!

This might sound silly but I read somewhere that sleeping face down reduces milk production. I used to wake up with fever-ish symptoms sometimes when I would go for long sleeps but it stopped once I reduced my supply. How many ounces are you producing? Maybe you can try to reduce your supply and that would allow you to sleep longer.
