I know we are all anxiously awaiting the big 20 week ultrasound.  That opportunity to see our little one moving and grooving.  How are all of your monthly appointments going?

My ultrasound is scheduled for  Monday 10/15.  It's a genetic ultrasound which will take place at the hospital which I will deliver.  I am having this one since I opted out of any invasive testing and only had the sequential screen.  I'm an old lady at age 42....lol...hand me my cane! My follow up OB appointment is the next day 10/16!

Anyone else have any appointment news or updates to share??? :smileyhappy:

I didn't really update after my last appointment a week and half ago. Pretty uneventful. HB was 142 and I had only gained 1 pound so far which I am SUPER happy about.

My big u/s is Friday, October 19, immediately followed by my 21 week appointment. Can hardly wait for that day!

I had an appt last week, and all looked good!  HB was in the 152-160 range.  I have my next appt Oct 18, and will make my big u/s appt then.  Hoping it gets scheduled by the end of Oct... I'm so impatient already!  :smileywink:

I have my "16" week appt on Friday, 2 days before I hit 16 weeks. It's also the day before my son's 16th birthday. Getting excited to check on how Pip-Squeak is doing in there.

I had my 16-week appointment last week. And can I just say how unimpressed I am with military hospitals so far? This is my first experience because my DD's were born at civilian hospitals because we lived in the states. Now, because we are in Germany, there is 1 American hospital and it's military. They want you to see a different doctor/midwife for every appointment because you don't know who will be on call when you go into labor. They have the appointments spaced out so far apart. I saw a nurse at 6 weeks, a midwife at 10 weeks and then a doctor at 16 weeks. And they don't see me again until I'm 24 weeks! That sounds so far away. Last week they told me to go over to radiology and schedule my u/s. Then radiology tells me that their calendar isn't open that far out (oh my, a whole 4 weeks) and to call back today. So what story do I get when I call today? Their calendar still isn't open! And the guy who answered the phone had the nerve to complain to me that he has asked "them" to open it and "they" just haven't done it yet. I'm 17 weeks today and I want to schedule my 20-week u/s before all the appointments get taken, which happens a lot when there's only 1 hospital and 1 radiology department. Ugh! Plus the doctor I saw for my 16-week check-up hardly did a thing. He didn't measure me, he didn't talk about weight gain, etc. All he did was find the heartbeat real quick, listen for 10 seconds and then put me back on antiobiotics just because I told him I MIGHT still have a vaginal infection because of all the discharge. He didn't even bother to test me for a UTI. So now I'm possibly taking unnecessary antibiotics. Plus he didn't even tell me what the heartrate was! All in all, he was in the room about 5 minutes.

Sorry for the rant! I'm just so frustrated. I just want to schedule my dang u/s in 3 weeks!

Yep, I had plenty of experience with military doctors/hospitals.  We used to joke around that there are two types of military doctors - the good ones that are in the military for love of country and the bad ones that are in the military cause they wouldn't be able to stay in practice in the civilian world.  Unfortunately, it felt like you'd see 9 of the second for every 1 of the first.  It was a military doctor that told me "it's normal for breastfed babies to go up to two weeks without having a bowel movement" when I took my 1/2 breastfed 1/2 formula fed  6 week old ds in cause he hadn't had a bowel movement in almost 3 days and all he would do was cry and fuss -- the longest he would sleep was 30 minutes at a time and the dr claimed it was "just colic"  Finally my mom gave him a baby laxative and he filled 6 full, almost overflowing, diapers in 8 hours. We finally figured out he couldn't tolerate milk based formulas.

Oh, and while dealing with severe depression following 2 m/c's  it was a military clinic that told me several times "I was not ENOUGH of a threat to myself or others to merit treatment."   It finally took my ex going to his commander and his commander calling the clinic's commander after 13+ months of me begging the doctors for mental health help for them to finally provide some semblence of help.  I still didn't get appropriate treatment until after I had the 3rd m/c at a different base -- the dr there immediately sent me in for in-patient treatment and I finally recovered.

Sometimes I am glad I'm no longer a second-class citizen aka a military dependant.
