That's all fine and dandy.  I'm so glad that they have their own space.  Does this mean that the woman gets the rest of the house?  I know that in my house, our kids seem to take over every room and I even have to sweep them out our room from time to time.  (It's where the second tv is.)

So what would your "Woman Cave" contain if you could have one?

Karen, as we get older we actually do require more light to see but I need the good lighting for painting.

I like when  fireplace is flanked with built-in bookshelves.  It looks like it is finished and belongs to me.  I love that chair and ottoman.  My mom has the best side tables they are similar to this in style but mom's are in a nice cherry wood color and are fancier.  I think they are very very old.  That is one cool lamp.   I can never find cool lamps when I am looking for one but lo and behold if I buy a lamp then I see all the cool ones.

I think the skylight will come very soon-sooner than expected.  Then I'm just going to spend time enjoying it before I make any more changes. The dogs also will have to get use to the change in lighting.

One of the dogs-'Rhett's cave' is under the desk. It took him a while to recoup from the last time I was in the hospital-DH said he would sit and whine. He still wakes and paces the house, looking for me at 3am if I'm not in bed. Scheherazade sleeps in the overstuffed chair when I'm on the computer, she's too old for me to get fussy having decorated the space with a Queen Ann recliner.

Okay, I love how this fireplace is flanked with the book shelves.  The only thing I don't like is the tile.  I'd replace the tile with river stone or brick.  I love the windows and the color of the walls.  I'd change the window dressings to a sheer or balloon shade with a stripe print that would be reflected in the furniture.  I'd also place my flat screen tv above the fireplace.

This chair and ottoman is beautiful.  But I'd want it in a soft yellow, pink, orange print (preferrably floral).  And a sofa for watching tv or just resting my eyes.  LOL  Some side tables with character like these but in a lighter shade.  I'd love to have a a simple desk, again in a lighter shade to go with the room, along with a simple credenza to put my projects in.  And some distictive lamps in colors that would go with the room.

And don't forget the deadbolt.  LOL

I confess that I do need some of the man gadgets.  LOL  The tv and audio system would be on list.  LOL  :smileywink:

Karen,

Sounds like a dream!!!  Love the colors and windows!!!  Oh and on the lighting, I find myself turning on more and more lights to be able to see better.  LOL

I loved the last picture best.  I'm not much of a sewer and would find that as more of a reminder of a chore that I have to do.  LOL

My whole place is my woman cave and I like it that way. No man gadgets, no stinky man clothes, and no man to trip over lol.

Hmmm...I had one when I had my house but we moved.  I always dreamed of making better and had started.  It would be Royal Purple, Green and Angtique Gold...(Mardi Gras colors)...It would have lots of windows with lovely sheer silky curtains, oh and those windows would open and have screens.   I want a nice large cushy comfy chair.  I would have bookshelves filled with my books, not children's books, not hubby's books...MY books.  I would have a corner for my painting and all my painting books.  I would have a corner for my drawing dresk and it would have all my drawing stuff housed within reach of said desk.  (I have the desk, just nowhere to put it.   One corner with a table for whatever craft idea hits my fancy.   I would have surround sound for my computer to play my music.  The middle of the room would be empty so I could practice my dancing and do meditation.  The floor would be a dark hardwood.  I would have a soft fuzzy rug under my chair.  I would have lots of good lighting, these old eyes need that now-a-days.  The sky light might be nice except when it is lightening.  I would have candles all over the room.  I keep creating this room in the Sims game.  Maybe someday I will get to create it in real life.

Great question!

Thanks for the links! My woman cave isn't as fancy as some of those, but it's organized and comfy enough for me. My book shelves are full of plastic totes which contain spiral notebooks, notebook paper, scrap paper, computer paper, folders, large & small envelopes, pens, pencils, post-it-notes, and on and on. Oh, and there are books on the shelves, too. :smileyhappy: I bookmarked some of the links so that I can go in and take a better look. And I looove reading other people's blogs. Have a great day, Lorie!
