I do this with stew meat for "To Die For Beef and Noodles". Usually use 1 lb. of meat, 1/2 packets of the seasonings, and use 1/2 cup red wine along with the water....

Have also done pork roast, using all water and replacing the brown gravy mix with a Pork gravy mix.

Got both of these ideas from the old CP board - wish I knew who to credit!

bump - and actually, I think I use WAY more than half a cup of red wine.... want to make sure the beef is all submerged.

Wine really gives it a much tastier flavor, too.

I am going to make this but put a little variation on it...
roast
gravy mix
dry onion soup mix
water
Do you think it will turn out as good?

I have a roast recipe too!

Easy sneezy!

Put in crock.

1 tsp butter
1/2 packet dry onion soup mix
roast
1 tsp butter
rest of packet onion soup
pour in baby carrots, onion slices, and cut potatoes

YUMMY! (No water needed! And, I've put it in frozen before. My DH LOVES it.)
