Just bumping this up from WAY back....

Roast Sticky Chicken ~ Crock Pot

4 tsp salt
2 tsp paprika
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp white pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 large roasting chicken
1 cup chopped onion

In a small bowl, thoroughly combine all the spices. Remove giblets from chicken, clean the cavity well and pat dry with paper towels. Rub the spice mixture into the chicken, both inside and out, making sure it is evenly distributed and down deep into the skin. Place in a resealable plastic bag, seal and refrigerate overnight. When ready to cook chicken put it in the crockpot and do not add any liquid. As the cooking process goes on it will produce it's own juices. Cook on low 8 to 10 hours and it will be falling off the bone tender.

Thank you daisy, its 330 ? I don't think it'd be done in time for dinner if I started it now. I may just stick it in the oven :/

I love this recipe. Did there use to be a CP cooking board. I came on looking for it and haven't found it. So, I am wondering if it is out there or not now. Thank you for any help. :)

Ah ha... I would have thought cavity too, but since it called for them to be chopped, I wasn't sure. It was smelling awefully 'oniony' for awhile and I wasn't sure about the whole thing (I'm pregnant so smells really affect me). It turned out fine in the end though.

Thanks ladies!

Yep - like Tracy, I would not use it at all, but I am sure I have seen people talking about it going in the cavity of the bird.....

I think it's inside the cavity of the chicken.

I'm just getting ready to put this in the crock pot and realized that the recipe doesn't indicate where the chopped onions go. I'm just going to scatter them around the chicken and assume that's it.

Caraleas ~ can you confirm?

Thanks. I'll let you know how it turns out!
