Crockpot Cream Cheese Chicken Recipe




  • 3 lbs. chicken pieces
  • 1 package Italian salad dressing mix
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter, divided
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth


Place chicken pieces in crockpot and sprinkle Italian salad dressing mix over the chicken. Drizzle 2 Tbsp. melted butter over chicken. Cook on low for 6 hours. Melt 2 Tbsp. butter in a saucepan and saute onion and garlic. Add the cream of chicken soup, cream cheese, and chicken broth. Stir until smooth. Add this mixture to the crockpot and cook on low for an additional 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

I made this for dinner tonight! I did a few things differently.


I used all dark meat chicken, and about 4 pounds instead of 3. Before cooking the chicken I took all the skin off. After the first 5 1/2 hours I took the chicken out of the crockpot, dumped out the juices, and deboned the chicken. Put the chicken back in for the last 1/2 hour.


I used dehydrated onion flakes in place of the onion, and garlic powder in place of the garlic clove. I also used Fleishmanns olive oil spread in place of the butter.


We served it on buns. It was very good! It reminded me of the sandwiches my sister in law had at her graduation party...
