Cabbage Au Gratin

1 small head green cabbage, shredded fine


2 cups consomme


1 small bay leaf


1 clove garlic


3 Tablespoons butter or margarine


1 slice onion, cut fine


2 Tablespoons flour


1 scant teaspoon curry powder


2 cups milk


1/2 cup buttered bread crumbs


1/4 cup grated cheese


Cook the shredded cabbage not more than 7 minutes in boiling consomme to which are added the bay leaf and garlic clove, stuck on a toothpick to be retrieved.

Thanks Gaye! This sounds great, i'm making it this weekend, and then will have to when DS13 comes home on the 23rd, he's the only teen i know who LOVES cabbage, plus, we are, as most of us here are HUGE CHEESE FANS. Sounds yummy, cant wait to try it.
