Hash Brown Potato Casserole

1 (28 oz) pack Ore-Ida® Potatoes O'Brian hash browns, thawed
1/2 cup melted butter, (divided use)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 medium onion, chopped
1 pint heavy cream, (whipping cream)
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
2 cups grated Cheddar cheese
2 cups corn flakes, crushed

In a large bowl, mix together 1/4 cup of the melted butter, salt, pepper, onion, heavy cream, soup and cheese; blend thoroughly. Butter a 9x13x2 inch flat casserole dish and place thawed potatoes evenly in the bottom.
Pour liquid mixture evenly over the potatoes. Mix the remaining 1/4 cup melted butter with the crushed cornflakes and sprinkle evenly over the top of the potato mixture. Bake at 350ºF. For 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until lightly browned.

I was thinking of making this for Thanksgiving dinner. How do you think it would taste with a packet of Ranch dressing mixed in it? You know, like Ranch Potatoes.

I have never known the flavor of ranch to do anything but enhance a dish.
