Creamy Spiced Hot Chocolate

Creamy Spiced Hot Chocolate

2 cups milk
1 cinnamon stick
2 star anise
1/2 vanilla bean, sliced lengthwise
1/4 cup slivered almonds, toasted
3 1/2 oz. milk chocolate, finely chopped

Heat milk in small pan with cinnamon stick, star anise and vanilla bean. Just as it starts to simmer, add almonds. Remove from heat before t comes to a boil, then let sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Strain milk infusion, add chocolate and return to heat. Whisk until chocolate is completely melted. Serve hot in porcelain tea cups or demi tasse cups. Makes 6 servings
