I just finished reading "Gunpowder Green" by Laura Childs, part of her tea mystery series set in Charleston, SC. Am waiting for books requested from the library so I am between books right now. May have to grab something off my shelf while I'm waiting. Seeing your post below about C.S. Lewis reminds me I should grab one of those and start reading it!! Gae
I just finished reading Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston which was wonderful! Now I'm reading To Kill a Mockingbird for the first time. Wow, it is fanstastic! Next up will depend on my library holds. I'm hoping that The Shadow of the Wind will be ready to pick up soon:)
What a treat to be reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" for the first time. It is definately one of my all time favourites. I've just finished "Can You Keep a Secret" by Sophie Kinsella. It was very good. Now I've finally moved onto "Rachel and Leah" by Orson Scott Card.
Everyone is reading such serious books this month! I'm relaxing a bit and reading a new Nora Roberts book. It's the first book of a garden/romance trilogy called, 'Blue Dahlia'. I'm working on some of the books I have in my TBR stack. I also bought 'The Rule of Four', but haven't gotten too far into it yet. I'm doing quite a bit of studying, so I'm not reading so many pleasure books.
I haven't started decorating yet or gotten a tree. Hope to do that this week.
As for reading, it's all holiday stuff. Small novels that are entertaining, endearing, humorous and/or romantic. I checked out a number of books all centered on Christmas:
'A Midnight Carol: A Novel on How Charles Dickens Saved Christmas' by Patrica K. Davis
'Can This Be Christmas' by Debbie Macomber
'The Christmas Blessing' by Donna VanLiere (this is the sequel to 'The Christmas Shoes')
'Snow' by Calvin Miller
'A Midnight Clear' by Katherine Paterson (stories for the Christmas season)
'The Christmas Letter' by Lee Smith
'The Shoe Box' by Francine Rivers'
Also got lucky and have 'Metro Girl' by Janet Evanovich and 'Fallings Awake' by Jayne Ann Krentz.
