I have digital cble, have had it for 2 years now. Well, just recently(duh!) I discovered that I get BBC America. I love anything British, Irish, Scottish, etc. Anyway...I have been watching this series called "Hamish McBeth". One night I watched the credits at the end..and there it was,..the creator was MC Beaton. Now I have read all of the Aagtha Raisin mysteries by her (Ag the Hag)....but I never read any of these. So I have picked up a few and I enjoy them. Now can I say I see the show from the books ...well not really, but as seperate entitiies...I enjoyed both!!
Just a little British tidbit!! For those who know me...something never change!!

Hi Ho, Barb!
Yes, I got Ag the Hag'd out ... but maybe I'll rejoin MC Beaton's Agatha Raisin cozy mystery series.
SAY!
I've read as many of both Hamish Macbeth and Agatha Raisin that I can get my hands on. However I didn't know that there was a tv series! That's great, I'll have to check it out. Thank you for that!

Hey Teri,
Yes, I am STILL a true Celtic at heart!! I will absolutely look for that book. I actually got ddep imbedded in a series on PBS called "Monarch of the Glen" A drama set in the highlands of a modern day family living in a castle. Unbelievable scenery.
I actually listened to "Skeleton Closet " in the unabridged audiobook. It was read by Donada Peters, who IMHO is the BEST reader of English/Celt books. I really enjoyed it..a fun book which now that I think of I maybe should listen to again.

Hey Gae, I hear ya. It took me 2 years to find this channel. A lot of it is not worth the effort, but the dramas are fabulous if you are a lover of British/Celt writing/reading.
Reading Rules!!
Barb
Well this Scot has read both and I enjoy them although Ag is still my fav for MC's work. There is another Brit snoop/detective you may enjoy Barb but of course I am at the Uof A computer lab and can not run into my spare room at home and find the author's name (sigh). I will find it and post it next time. It is about an American woman (about Agatha's age) who is living in Scotland and married to a retired Scottish constable.
I'll get back to ya on this.

On the BBC Programs:
One of the gals here on the board from overseas told us last month that there are BBC programs based on Ruth Rendell's mysteries.
Actually, Adam Dagliesh is the character in the series by P.D. James. A wonderful series of Bristish Police procedurals. Of course I am prejudice on this as I think P D James is the best of the best in Brit Lit.
This season on PBS I saw several Elizabeth George books made into MYSTERY series shows. They were done quite well, although NOTHING can come close to reading her. She is ALSO so wonderful. They also showed one PD James show "Murder in Holy Orders"
Boy would I love to get to see Brit TV all the time..hehehehe!
I have never read Ruth Rendell........I dont think. Do you guys like her. In an author chat once Elizabeth George told us to read her if we like PD James. I have PD James autobiography (Which is wonderful) and there is a picture of her with Ruth. I think I have never read her as I know she is in the same vein as George and James, and I dont want to be disappointed...how weird...huh!!
AND of course...I would have to read her in order!
Hey...any READING RULES!!
Well, I am watching Hamish right now in fact..not such a good episode...but great scenery.
Barb
