How often do you change out the soil in your container gardens or plant baskets?

Even if my plants don't need a bigger container for the upcoming season, I carefully work out about 1/3 of the soil to replace with new nutrient rich mixture and some slow release fertilizer every year. This goes for indoor hanging plants as well as any container plants I have outside. There is one exception, in that Tomatoes are planted in new soil every year, even when I re-use most of the soil that they grew in for other gardening areas.
