No, I don't think I've ever consciously, deliberately taken a reading break. Sometimes life intrudes and I don't have time to read. Sometimes, I get tired of a genre and then have to switch to another genre. I used to have a rule that I had to finish every book that I started. How dumb is that? Well, when I was reading a particularly bad or boring book, I found myself not reading, finding excuses not to read. Finally, it dawned on me that I didn't have to finish ANY book. The book police weren't going to show up at my front door. So that excuse is now gone. In the last year, I've also been able to get rid of books. I used to keep them all, and every room was filled with bookshelves, crammed with books and surplus books stacked up all around me. I don't tend to re-read books (there are exceptions), so why was I hanging onto them? Just next last November, we donated 500 books to our local library. I keep a few of my absolutely read-over books and, of course, reference books on a variety of subjects. The fewer rules one has about reading, the better IMHO. I now feel strangely liberated.
Never. I always have a book with me if there is even the slightest possiblilty that I'll have a spare 5 minutes. I even read for pleasure when I was in college.
I don't do reading breaks! lol. Of course I also don't have any children. I'm like Julie, there's always a book in my purse, you never know when you'll have to wait somewhere. And when I was in college sometimes I used to stay up all night reading my books, the ones I chose of course, not the school ones. Let me tell you, I can't survive without sleep anymore, I don't do it now!
I don't ever take intentional breaks (although I'm going to have to soon). I'm taking a distance learning coarse and will have to committ to getting into it seriously and finishing. I will slow down the reading, but certainly won't stop. I read almost everyday of my life. It's how I relax. Since I was a child I have been unable to go to bed without taking a book along. Sometimes I'm too tired and I'm asleep after 10 minutes with the book flopped on my chest or face. I take a book with me everywhere and will steal even 10 minutes on my work breaks to read a few pages. I can't imagine marrying someone who doesn't read. He would have a lonely life with me having my nose in a book each night.
Breaks from books? What kind of sick question is that? LOL j/k I usually only go a few days in between books. Sometimes a week. Sometimes I need to let the story get out of me before I start the next. I feel a part of the lives of the characters I read sometimes, especially if I've gotten far into a series that I need a little break in between before I can "get together with my other friends". Does that sound weird? I wish I had more time to read. Gae

I don't intentionally take breaks from them, but sometimes life gets in the way.

The longest I've ever gone without reading is when getting my eyes dilated at the ophthamalogist's. Can you understand the frustration?!!!!! LOL!

Lena,
500 books donated to your library....how very generous!
Reading every single day is like breathing for me.

You have to read aloud on car trips.
