Hi,

Can anybody tell me the best flowers for pots for Fresno, Ca.? The heat in the summer is extreme and I don't have much luck with this.

Hi and Welcome!

I think Fresno is a zone 9 area for growing. (you can double check with your zip code here: http://www.garden.org/zipzone/ ) I lived in FL in zone 9 and getting flowers to bloom all through the summer with the heat is just hard. In addition if you are growing in containers they will tend to dry out VERY quickly. Do you use any of the wetting mediums to help hold water?

A couple things that come to mind:
Crapemyrtle (this is a favorite of mine and there are dwarf varieties that will do well in containers)
Black-Eyed Susan (aka Cone Flower)
Dianthus
Hibiscus
Rosemary
Aster
Bamboo
Begonia
Wild Thyme
Gardenia
Verbena
Milk weed
Roses
Bird of Paradise

I know there are others, but can't think of anything at the moment.
