Hi there, I just discovered this board and have a question that I cannot find the answer to anywhere.

Every year I plant impatiens as my yard is mainly shade. Every year they flower fabulously with no issues. But this year they aren't flowering. They did at first and now they are all green leaves. The plant is thriving but no flowers and it's driving me nuts.

I used Osmocote fertilizer for the first time this year on them. Does anyone

I had this happen one time with tomato plants - I had beautiful vines that never flowered. With tomatoes no flower = no fruit. bummer! The local extension agent suggested that it was likely because of to much nitrogen and suggested adding some potassium as well. One other thought is have you had an unusually warm summer? That might effect their blooming.

I have never had much luck with impatiens myself, so......

HTH! Let us know if adding some potassium helps.

I was thinking maybe the heat too, they flower longer in milder climates.
