I literally just finished Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult. It was as usual excellent. Next I'm going to read Bel Canto for my book club.

I'm continuing the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. I didn't want to start the series until he was done, that would aggravate me to wait for a book to be released. I'm also reading the Titled Americans. I checked out 7 books today that were on hold and haven't even looked to see what they were. When The Wastelands is complete I will tackle them.

Hi Julie,

I read Ann Patchett's Bel Canto six months ago after reading raves about it for a couple of years...and enjoyed it very much!

Just finished "Scavenger Hunt", a mystery by Robert Ferrigno, and #2 in the DKA PI Files series (from 1973!) by Joe Gores.

I read Black House a year or so ago. I liked it, but not like I enjoyed The Talisman. If you haven't already, read "Bleak House" first, there are a lot of references to that Dickens'Classic in Black House.

I think King & Straub have wonderful chemistry when they write together. I've both authors' work separately and sometimes you can see (or at least I imagine I can tell) where one or the other influence comes in.

You'll have to let us know what you think of it.

Both great books, Julie! I read Keeping Faith a couple of weeks ago and LOVED it. Bel Canto was my RLBC's first selection. This was a book I really loved, but it got mixed reviews at out meeting. I'll be curious to hear how yours goes.

I'm 1/2 way through Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. It's GREAT - dark, creepy, and impossible to put down!

I just finished reading Horseplay by Judy Renee Singer. It was great!! I really, really enjoyed it. I love horses and have been dying to go riding sometime. So it kind of just came together for me. I was envious of her getting to spend all that time at the horse ranch. Now I am reading Chile Death by Susan Wittig Albert. Have to keep going to see how the China/McQuaid thing turns out!! Gae

Still plugging away at London by Edward Rutherford...I'm on page 757 of 1126! By my calculations (doing my best Spock imitation...lol) I should finish some time next week.

I'd recommend it if you like historical fiction!
