Need help with decorating.
Welcome Trudy, glad you joined us!
Somehow I can't see paisley mixed with plaid in the same room unless the swag is in the the same color family as your plaid sofa. Stripes

Thanks Doris for the ideas.
I think you COULD use paisley with plaid if you took care in matching the colors. And insert a healthy dash of solids to balance them out. Check out these Ralph Lauren towels, for example:http://www.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=406430&BannerID=MP688&PartnerID=LINKSHARE&LinkshareID=neQRQBqOKtQ-0kIWfeIxRPMBmaw_Hagj4w
If you could get some bold paisley pillows for your couch in teh same colors, maybe with a single large paisley motif, that would help blend the two patterns. Something like this one:http://www.poshtots.com/Bedding/Childrens-Bedding/Decorative-Pillows/Gaelic-Paisley-Pillow/15/228/1098/17585/PoshProductDetail.aspx?utm_source=cj&utm_medium=prod_feed&utm_content=17585&utm_campaign=affiliate&AID=10720442&PID=1609763&SID=tfc_-_8_54_100416_9301534e19fd42bea41c837b4fa9af52
We have some swags, minimalist ones, on our living room windows and they are florals backed with a solid. The came with the house and we never have thought to change them, even though floral doesn't "go" with our style... Check out the attachment... I hope you can make them out from this picture.

I like the blue and the sage ones for color, the neutral lining would work with your walls and if gathered just right, would show off the print. And I think these two MIGHT just work with your couch. Oh, you can get thrwo pillows in the same print, which is cool:http://www.windowtoppers.com/s866tosspillows.html
I personally prefer the shorter less ruffly version that they show (at the end of the row of pictures). but I don't know your style and the rufflier version might work best for you.
Our windows look out onto a lake so no one can see in and since we only get west sun, filtered by a VERY large row of maple tress, we don't have much of a sun issue either... So if push comes to shove, I can do totally without window treatments... I do lean toward the less is more end of decor!
I like those so much better than the paisley Trudy! They will blend in with your walls and love the little red bows.
So will you use several rods or
Yes, I do like those also.
I agree with Doris that these are a better choice. You won't have to worry about matching pattern 8and* if you change the couch in future, you won't be tied into a specific color scheme.
Clearance over those vertical blinds will be critical. Ask at the hardware store for the right kind of rod; I'm sure they know exactly what you will need.
I like the sound of the crown molding!
