I just finished "Sight Hounds" by Pamela Houston. It was pretty good, each chapter is told by a different character, including the main character's dogs & cat. It was funny, but sad. Now I'm smack dab in the middle of S King, Wolves of the Calla from the Dark Tower Series. I love King. ninipanini
I haven't been around for a while. I've been sick with the flu and sinus infection. I had it for two weeks. Been very tired, haven't gotten on the computer much at home, and have been super busy at work to get on there. In any case, I just finished "Liberty Falling" by Nevada Barr. Part of the Anna Pigeon series. In this story her sister is sick in the hospital with pneumonia and might die. Back in New York Anna is hanging out on Ellis Island with NPS staff and discovers a plot to destroy the statue of liberty. Pretty exciting. I just finished it and am not sure what I will read next. I got a collection of Agatha Christie stories that I might check out. I'm also reading "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran. Gae
I just finished "Like Water for Chocolate" by Laura Esquivel. It takes place in turn of the century Mexico and is the story of Tita. Tita is the youngest daughter and according to tradition it is her duty to live with her mother and take care of her until the day she dies. The book follows Tita's life and fight for independence in a unique way- centering around the kitchen and her unique recipes she creates in there. It was a very different book but a nice, light read.
Now I am reading Kay Hooper's "Hunting Fear" which is part of the paranormal Bishop series.
I finally just finished The Crimson Petal and The White. I am not real happy about how that one turned out. But I also just finished Survivor by Chuck Palahniak. He's the same one who wrote Fight Club. It was very weird but good. Currently reading Dance With The Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Featuring Zarek from the Dark-Hunter Series. It's pretty good so far.
I am waiting for The Monkey's Raincoat by Robert Crais from the library. I can't wait after the great review:) ~ Joey
I'm definitely glad to be feeling better for sure. Last week my husband got food poisoning and I had to take him to urgent care where he got two iv's and anti-nausea medicine. He's finally starting to feel a little better and eating more food. Scary stuff!! No, I wasn't taking a train trip recently. Back in November I took the train that goes from Williams to the Grand Canyon. Pretty cool!! I won't be going anywhere until May when I'm going to the Rankin Ranch near Bakersfield to go horseback riding. And of course next month to the Festival of Books!!! My friend and I got a hotel room so we can go both days!! Too cool!! Gae
Scotty beamed me down so I could actually do some posting on the board this week. Right now I'm reading Michael Connelly's 'The Narrows'. Have had the books since the first day it was published but tend to wait, torture myself for long periods then finally read books from my favorite writers. Why? Who knows? It's an addiction, right? Have also been reading some funny contemporary romance novels like 'For Pete's Sake' by new writer Geri Buckley (shades of Jennifer Crusie in her writing) and finished Millie Crisswell's 'Body Language'. Picked up a new one by Shirley Jump titled 'The Devil Served Tortellini.' The library stack was just sitting and gathering dust so returned most today. Have worked longer hours is why I can't get to them right now. But I do keep up to find new titles and writers. Don't want to miss a good one!

I've never read Like Water for Chocolate but I've always thought it has the best title.

Has anyone read Rita Ciresi?
