What is your favorite part about county fairs?

  • The food
  • The animals
  • The races (horse or car?)
  • The exhibits
  • The concerts
  • The carnival rides
  • Demolition Derbies (cars or farm machinery)
  • Tractor (or pony) pulls
  • Other (please tell us what else there is at your fair)
  • I don't go to county fairs

You will be able to change your vote.

I voted exhibits because for our local fair, I go simply to see the needlework exhibits!

But when we lived in Houston and attended the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, we went specifically for the food (the BBQ cookoff held in the parking lot in the first days of the show) *and* the opening night concerts (Alabama was a regular!) but we also walked around the stalls with things for sale and looked at all the animals (even attended a livestock judging - even though we know absolutely nothing about what makes prize-winning heifers or geese or whatever - and auction or two) and attended the rodeo as well!

I voted that I don't go to county fairs, but that's only because up until last week, I didn't even know my county had a fair!

Oh, the food... such temptations. Our fair midway had THREE aisles of food vendors!

Any particular ride? I'm a tame ride person myself (I don't like leaving my stomach behind me when the ride starts moving! LOL), which means the most adventuresome I would likely to be at any county fair would be a Ferris wheel, if they had one...

Oh, I agree, friked Twinkies, HoHos or Yodels are definitely NOT high on my list. Ad kettle corn --- the smell really really puts me off!

I'm a fan of the polish sausage stands myself!
