When you set out to do a project you'...

When you set out to do a project you've never done before, how do you learn how?
- I just wing it - I learn by doing.
- I surf online for directions.
- I follow the advice of home-improvement books and magazines.
- I ask a friend or family member to tell me how to do it.
- I start the job, but I often get a pro to finish it.
- Some combination of the above (specify)
- I ALWAYS hire a pro from the get-go.
- Other...

It really depends what needs to be done, but I do look online for information so that I know how complicated or easy it is. When it's better to go with a pro, that's what I do.
