Anyone enjoy a book everyone hates?

First, sorry to have been MIA lately...Administrative Professionals Day (formerly Secretary's Day) and Mother's Day is an extremely busy season for me and it's finally over. Whew!

Ok, so we've had conversations about books that are widely loved that we secretly hate and I think we've made some good personal progress ;-)

So...anyone enjoy a book that everyone seems to hate? I'm in the middle of the new YaYa and I have to tell you that only 4 of the 38 amazon reviews were positive. I'm kind of embarrased that I'm enjoying it. I mean it's not War & Peace or anything, but I love the characters.

Anyone know what I mean?

What a great question! I can't think of a book off the top of my head but I used to be embarrased to read some of those "bodice ripper" books. You know the ones with the woman showing off her cleavage with some lounging male in the background. I'd make thse my at home books and make sure I had a suitable book to take out in public. LOL So glad to have gotten beyond that:) You can learn some great history from some of those historical romances:)

Beth,

Could you bring us up to date on what the lucky Admin. Assistants and Moms are receiving, book basket-wise, these days?!

Do you change the books seasonally in your gift baskets?

Which titles are you offering?

That's hysterical! LOL!! Is it a quick read? I could use a good laugh.

Thanks for the welcome back...again.

Ya Ya actually. The bad reviews aren't stopping anyone from buying. It's paired with Ginger Peach tea and Mary Chapin Carpenter. For Mother's Day, Chocolat (by Joanne Harris) with Rose Petal Tea and An Evening in Paris CD sold out as a Chocolate & Roses basket.

I have added Ya Ya for Spring and have Honeymoon, Gatsby and plans for

I also loved The Dive from Clausen's Pier. I wasn't necessarily thrilled with some of the choices the main character made, but I thought it was a very well-done, thought-provoking book. I think it's interesting to hear that some people didn't like Secret Life of Bees. That's a book that I've only heard raves about (myself included). I'm curious to know what people didn't like about it. Be sure to let us know what you think when you read it Beth. Oh, also did you ever read Beneath a Marble Sky? What did you think? And don't worry, my feelings won't be hurt if you didn't like it:)
