Here's a big hello and Welcome to our Newcomers...and an invitation to any lurkers to c'mon out and introduce yourselves!

The board is a friendly gathering of avid readers....many of us like to vary our genres.

Please tell us a bit about yourself and/or any favorite authors, genres, what you're reading these days...

And please feel welcome to post a new topic if you like!

I spend most of my time on the Fiction Lovers Board but I always try to remember to check in here to find out what people are reading. I always come away with good suggestions.

I read fiction, usually literary, historical fiction. When I read non-fiction, it's mostly history and memoirs.

Delurking to say thanks for the warm welcome (under the puzzlers post).

This is always such a great place to come for new reading ideas! I'm not a very fast reader. There's just not enough time in a day for me to pick up a book, but I love adding everyone's suggestions to my TBR list.

I'm from Bucks County, PA (I think someone else recently mentioned being from here too)

I almost delurked the other day under the Bookaholics post, after I visited my 1st used book sale. My 13yr old dd & I only popped in so she could buy a book & then show the receipt to her English teacher for extra credit. Well $33 and 10 books later I started feeling we both may have a little problem :) (I know we could have a lot worse addictions) Anyway, our summer beach & poolside reading is now nicely lined up for us.

I'm currently reading Light on Snow by Anita Shreve (one of my book sale finds). I'm totally caught up in the story & characters.

Hi Syrah (love your name!),

Just wondered if you're from anywhere around Doylestown/New Britain in Bucks County.

Thanks for remembering about Prisoners in Paradise. I did write about the army and navy nurses in that book, but I didn't go as in depth as Elizabeth Norman. She has also written a book about nurses in the Vietnam War.

Right now I'm reading a novel called Case Histories by Kate Atkinson. It's fabulous so far--about three separate crimes and a private detective who is called upon to look into one of them. At some point I think they all link together.

I am working on another book, a biography this time, that also explores issues of women and war, spanning the 20th century.
