Rye bread is yummy!! It took me a while to get used to it, but I love it now! And I haven't found a breat like it in the US. The bread here is just so much "better", it jsut isn't as fluffy and white as American bread. (That's not to say that I don't love eatting some fluffy bread when visiting the US.)
"with a Finnish girl whose family had a sauna at their house...a REAL sauna, not the fancy-schmancy ones nowadays."
Heheeh. That's too funny. I love sauna also.. I'm trying to get my dad to build one into the back house when he remodels it.. He likes the idea, but who knows if it will happen.
"When I told her I knew where it's located she was so shocked...she said most Americans don't have a clue,"
That is very true. "We" are quite shocked when someone does know where Finland is.. as because, truely, most Americans don't know where it is.. Scanda-who? I admit I was one of those..although I had a huge wall map infront of my computer so I didn't look so "stupid". *grin*
Plus, I had to tell my stepmom that yes, the distance from Finland to Spain is short on a map, but no, it isn't as easy as just hopping on a ferry and going there in a day or two..it takes much longer than that. LOL.
"Do you ever get to come home???"
I usually visit home once a year and sometimes twice a year. Right now I am trying to not head home for a while so I can make a holiday trip elsewhere in the world. *grin*
I don't think my English is accented, although, some people say it is different. I refuse to use British English, unless in the US to confuse people and actually give them something "different" and changed about me. LOL.
My Finnish is decent. Not nearly fluent, but I can call a repair man and get a man to my apt to get it fixed.. My Finnish would be better if I actually spoke the language more. *blush* My bad. But I can use the excuse that Finnish is one of the hardest languages to learn. *grin* (But it is also sort of easy at the same time...)
