Ooh, Scrappy & Others, a bouquet of thanks for recommending "Beneath a Marble Sky", by John Shors, the story of the eldest daughter of the 17th Century emperor who built the Taj Mahal as a tribute to the love between him and his wife, the emperor's family, murderous sibling rivalries, the rigid strictures imposed on women, and a forbidden love...and much more.

Fabulous, rich, a literary gem!

Dragon's Winter by Elizabeth Lynn..."Utterly engrossing, Lynn's first novel in 13 years demonstrates the command of her genre that has earned her two World Fantasy Awards. Of the twin sons, Karadur and Tenjiro, born to the shapechanging Dragon King Kojiro Atani of Ippa, only one inherits the dragon nature. Tenjiro, bitterly envious of his brother's supernatural abilities, masters an evil lore long thought vanquished. He perverts the affection of Karadur's lover, the musician Azil, and steals the magic talisman that enables Karadur to take dragon form."

Teri ~~ Funny you should mention the Taj Mahal. The play we're rehearsing is A Perfect Ganesh. It is a trip taken by two ladies

Oh Teri, I'm so glad you're enjoying it. When books get overly recommended, sometimes they are disappointing. I'm so glad that isn't the case with this one:) It is a book that has stuck with me since I read it. You know how sometimes you read a book and you really enjoy it, but it doesn't have any "staying power"? You just don't think about it after you're finished. That was not the case with Beneath a Marble Sky. I read it last year and still think about it frequently:)

Hi Kris. I'm so sorry to hear about how your dad is doing. I'll keep him, you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I just finished Life of Pi on Sunday. Last night I started "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time" by Mark Haddon.

I chose both books because I had heard so much about them but they are weird books so far and I am not sure what to think.

I liked Life of Pi by the end of the book. Not sure about Curious Incident yet.

In anticipation of the new Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince coming out on July 16th, I have started reading the series from the beginning. Just finished book 1 last night and have started book 2, The Chamber of Secrets. It's fun to go back and put the book to the movie and see the little differences. Gae
