Well yesterday I finished up the classic Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes. It was a very good book. A little bit of a tear-jerker at the end.
Last night I started Confessions Of A Slacker Wife by Muffy ? (Muffy Mead I think). I seen the author on Oprah a couple of months back and reserved the book and it just now came in. I am a bit of a "slacker wife". I don't always have dinner on the table when hubby gets home, I make him do the laundry, my bed isn't made every day, and when I entertain I don't always make over-the-top kinds of food. I used to feel bad about all this and for a while I would bust my butt to get everything done in one day. Then I seen Muffy on Oprah talking about how it's ok to not be the "perfect wife". She explains in her book that she is no perfect wife but her hubby still loves her, the house is still standing, and how she is a happier wife because she doesn't get frazzled trying to do everything herself just so she looks like the perfect wife. I am really enjoying the book. I feel like I could have wrote the book myself.
It's a quick read so I should be done with it this afternoon as long as I can get all the kiddies to lay down at once. Then tonight or tomorrow I plan on starting Stephen King's Pet Semetary.
I'm reading Cane River by Lalita Tademy...one of Oprah's old bookclub selections that I never had a chance to read before now. I'm about 150 pages in and am really enjoying it.
I'm almost finished with "Voyager" by Diana Gabaldon. And there is 1 person in front of me at the library waiting for the book and the one I purchased from Amazon.com is on its way.. I'll soon be waiting impatiently for the mail each day...
While waiting for the 4th book to come, I'll continue listening to "Storm Rising" by Mercedes Lackey and reading "The Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley.
Well I am almost done reading Stephanie Barron's Jane Austen mystery "Jane & his Lordships Legacy" which I am thoroughly enjoying (will be going back to read the previous ones now) & I have 2 Elizabeth Berg books to read next
I'm still working on "The Kite Runner." I'm almost finished now but I think the worst thihgs might still be coming. There should be quite a discussion a book club.
