Looking for a childrens book

Hi gang- When I was little my parents read me a children's story about an older woman who lived in a tree house located in a weeping willow tree. All the town's people made fun of her, until a monsoon came and the town flooded. Then she invited everyone into the tree house till the sun came out. Now I have three children and I'd love to read that story to them, but I cant for the life of me remember the name of the book or the author. Does anyone remember this book? I'm hoping someone else remembers this tale! Thanks in advance for any help.......

I haven't heard of this one but it sounds like a wonderful story for children. Have you tried your local librarian. They are a fount of knowledge. I would start with your school librarian and if she doesn't have the answer try the children's librarian in your town or city library. They probably have data base access to track it down for you
Good luck and let us know how your search turns up
Is it Miss Twiggley's Tree, by Dorothea Warren? I hadn't heard of the book, but I am a high school librarian and I belong to a listserv for school librarians so I posted your question to my list and I got this response from several people. I hope that's what you were looking for.
They tell me it was recently reprinted as well.
