Need a Book Rec......
| Sun, 06-12-2005 - 5:06pm |
Ok, I'm not a super fast reader -- but part of that is that I must be interested in what I read.
I would really like some suggestions here on Summer Reading:
I like any type of book. Here are some books/movies I like, so maybe it'll make you think of some good suggestions that I might find at my bookstore.
I like some mystery --- not much horror.
I like stuff like Sylvia Browne's "mystic" writing.
I like sex.
I like romance.
I'm a Mom at Home at heart -- so I love domestic or farm or estate settings......
I loved the movies like: Steel Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatoes, Beaches.
Maybe something with a unique message????
Thanks!!!!! Really looking forward to your ideas!

Well I have a few books I liked a lot.
You would probably enjoy Jeanne Ray's books - they're just really nice little books with great characters. "Julie & Romeo" was the first & a sequel to it has just come out. The others are stand-alones (at least for now) Janet Evanovich's "Stephanie Plum books are really fun & a bit sexy. "One for the Money" is the first in that series. You might also enjoy the "Stella the Stargazer" series by Christine T. Jorgensen. I think the first one was "You Bet your Life". They're funny, sort of psychic, mysteries. If you liked the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes", you may like that & other Fannie Flagg books. Also the book that "Beaches" was based on or other books by Iris Ranier Dart. Susan Isaacs is also good - she wrote "Compromising Positions" which was made into a movie with Susan Sarandon years ago. Also Olivia Goldsmith, who wrote "First Wives Club".

I think you've got quite a list already:) I will just say that most of the recommendations have been great. Nora Roberts would definitely hold your interest and has as Celeste said everything you are looking for:) If you liked "Beaches" try the book by Iris Rainer Dart and she wrote a sequel called "Beaches II: I'll Be There" You might also enjoy "Chocolat" by Joanne Harris. I would also recommend "Blessed are the Cheesemakers" by Kate Lynch. Olivia Goldsmith is wonderfully funny. If you enjoy Catherine Coulter you might also want to try Kay Hooper she does a lot with mystery/supernatural as does Barbara Michaels.
Most of us could go on all day-- can you tell?
Please stop by and let us know which books you discovered and if any of our ideas helped:)
If you like "mystic" writing, do you like fantasy?
