Need a Book Rec......

Ok, I'm not a super fast reader -- but part of that is that I must be interested in what I read.

I would really like some suggestions here on Summer Reading:

I like any type of book. Here are some books/movies I like, so maybe it'll make you think of some good suggestions that I might find at my bookstore.

I like some mystery --- not much horror.
I like stuff like Sylvia Browne's "mystic" writing.
I like sex.
I like romance.
I'm a Mom at Home at heart -- so I love domestic or farm or estate settings......
I loved the movies like: Steel Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatoes, Beaches.

Maybe something with a unique message????

Thanks!!!!! Really looking forward to your ideas!

Hi Susie Q,

Kris introduced us to Jeanne Ray a couple months ago...She is the author of "Step-Ball-Change", which several of the gals here have enjoyed.

Ann,

We'd love to hear how you like "Blessed are the Cheesemakers" by Sarah-Kate Lynch :)

I«d like to jump in on the discussion, although I«m sure you«ve got more than enough recommendations by now! ;) What I would like to add to the list, is "The No.1 Ladies'Detective agency"-series by Alexander McCall Smith, about Botswana's first lady detective, Mma. Precious Ramotswe ;) This is a series of books about the aforementioned lady, that have become hugely popular - at least in Europe - due to their laidback, cozy atmosphere. Apparently they appeal to both men and women in all ages! This excerpt is from "In the company of cheerful ladies": Precious Ramotswe, that cheerful Botswanan private investigator of 'traditional build', is now married to Mr J.L.B. Matekoni of Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors. The Agency is busy, but Mma Ramotswe cannot ignore the plea which is made by a woman who comes to her with a tale of particular misfortune. Unfortunately, her attempts to help are interrupted by a close encounter between her tiny white van and a bicycle, and by a spectacular disagreement between her assistant, Mma Makutsi, and one of the apprentices at the garage. This apprentice has found a fancy girlfriend who drives a Mercedes-Benz. How can he be rescued from his folly? And as for Mma Makutsi, she has found a dancing class, and a man who may not be able to dance very well, but who admires her greatly. And all of this happens against a background of quiet sessions of bush tea, and of a land that stretches out forever under mile upon mile of empty sky...

I didn't read the others reply's before I started typing this, but I highly recommend that you read Blessed Are The Cheesemaker's by Sarah-Kate Lynch. I think it would go along with your movie likes you mentioned, and it has a message about love and life. I'm sure someone else recommended this also, but if you go to www.stopyourekillingme.com there is a section with If you like this author, you might like.... and things like that. Very handy website for mystery books. Gae
