Dh doesn't read. I wish he did. I would love to be able to discuss books with him. I had a boyfriend in college who was a big reader and I used to love to talk books with him. One time, I can't remember the occasion, he gave me a bunch of books that he really liked. One of them was _Catcher in the Rye_ It was the only time I ever read that book. I never had to read it for school. I still think of it as a "boy" book. --What a digression!
My late father did not read either. My brothers read, though. I come here to talk about books, or talk to my friends b/c they're all big readers too.
I grew up with every member of my family being a dedicated reader, men and women alike.
I come from a family of readers and have always had that in my life with my family and friends. My late father read quite a bit. He liked historical things, travel books and stuff like Zane Grey or Louis L'Amour. My mom didn't read books, but she did read magazines and short stories in books like Reader's Digest and the Chicken Soup type books. She read many books to me as a child and it is because of her that I grew up loving to read. So did my sister. My ex is a big reader and our children read for pleasure also. I can't imagine life without the ability to read.
Books on the history of aviation, Boeing, or wartime/vintage aircraft were a sure hit with my late Dad.
My dad isn't much of reader - the only books he usually will skim through are ones about trains, heavy equipment, certain kinds of cars
My h reads a bit - some religious books, mostly alot of technical books about cars, computers, electronics & all that
Try as I might, I can't get SO interested in reading.
